Ok I’ll be honest, I did not realize this quote came from Tom Petty lyrics until after I made it. So let’s just pretend like that’s not the case.
But when I saw this pattern by KnottyDickens I instantly thought about Kelsea because 1. She is super talented in the flowers department, as you can see by some of these photos, and 2. She is a wild and free running spirit if there ever was one.
Kelsea is a dear friend. My heart gets really big when I think about this lady. She is extremely creative and talented, and creates beauty wherever she goes. She also creates space for others, whether gatherings in her home or in those long and heavy conversations that you just need to have with someone. And her art (because that is what she does) is part of that, part of creating and holding a beautiful space for others to step into and be themselves. She is a treasure and a delight.
I’m also pretty sure Instagram was invented specifically for her.
No really, check these out:
She also has a really cute dog, Henri.
You should peep her work and maybe hire her, just sayin'.
Craft deets:
This is the first pattern I’ve done on a non-white background. I still used my lightbox and water soluble pen, but it was a lot harder to copy accurately. Thankfully this pattern is pretty forgiving. For darker fabric I will definitely need to try paper solvy (I’ve only read about this, but it looks like magic) or a carbon transfer.
I also had to re-do the writing because I first chose a blue that was too light. Of course I was in denial until I had finished the whole thing:
But in the end I’m pretty happy with how it turned out :) And Kelsea, being the amazing designer that she is, styled and took all these photographs.
Also I should add a shout out to her Instagram Husband and generally awesome guy, James. He's cool too.
