Drumroll please… Ta da! My first hand-drawn original design!
A friend commissioned a piece with this quote to give to her mom, and I took the opportunity to try and draw something of my own instead of the usual Etsy pattern or tracing of something I found online. I’ve never thought of myself as someone who can draw, though I did take a class for fun in college when I studied abroad in Florence. It’s a bit outside of my comfort zone.
I have the perfectionist’s curse where I often feel like if I’m not naturally the best at something, then why bother. Hence why I’ve never excelled in (or made much of an effort at) sports/athletics. But I also have the perfectionist’s blessing (?) of not being satisfied to stop working on a project until it meets my standards. Fortunately with embroidery, it has worked out more towards the latter.
My process involved sketching it out on graph paper, then scanning it into Adobe Photoshop and adding the text. I haven’t used Adobe since high school yearbook some 13 years ago (!) so Vlad is giving me some refreshers.
